When we talk about jamun honey people confused it with honey added with jamun fruit or honey with jamun flavour.

It is not the case with Bharat’s jamun honey. Bharat’s jamun honey is 100% natural, raw honey. Nothing is added externally.

Bharat Honey takes a lot of effort to procure completely raw and pure jamun honey. It is collected from the areas rich in jamun plantation.

During the flowering season, Bharat honey’s team travel to those areas and procure it directly from the source. It is hygienically harvested and handed well to maintain its rawness.

Unlike other commercial honey, we do not heat and ultra-filter it.

The rawness of Bharat’s Jamun honey is evident from the original jambul aroma and presence of abundant bee pollen.

Characteristic features of jamun honey :

Jamun honey is dark in colour, slightly bitter or less sweet in taste and has a strong aroma of jamun. Jamun honey is turbid because of the abundant bee pollen especially if it is extracted from the rock bee honeycomb.

Its aroma is so strong that anyone can identify it by just smelling.

About Jamun flowers:

Jamun tree has small white fragrant flowers. They are present in clusters, at the tip of the stem. Jamun flowers are rich in nectar and pollen. Flowering season in northern India is during May and June month. During these months most of the other flowers have ceased to bloom.

Long flowering season and richness of nectar in flowers is a treat for honey bees.

Which honey bee collects jamun nectar?

As observed by Bharat honey’s team. Apis Dorsata the wild honey bees are good at collecting jamun flowers nectar. That is why most of the jamun honey collected by Bharat honey’s team is from wild bees.

It is harvested hygienically by squeezing honeycomb.

Most of the Jambul honey in India comes from Apis Dorsata or rock bees.

Other honey bees like Apis Mellifera (domesticated honey bee), Apis Florea and Apis Cerena Indica also work well when the atmosphere is favourable.

How to confirm the authenticity of  Jamun honey?

Pollen test :

The authenticity of any monofloral honey can be confirmed by observing the bee pollen ratio under the microscope.

According to fssai if 50% source of nectar is from a single type of flower, then that honey can be given the name of that flower.

Bharat’s jamun honey may have more than 70% of jamun nectar and pollen.

Sensory analysis :

Jamun honey has unique organoleptic property. Its aroma and after taste is unique. This property cannot be duplicated artificially that's why organoleptic is the critical test to confirm the authenticity. Hence the taste, after taste and aroma of Bharat’s Jamun honey, is the best evidence of its genuineness.
